Chemical Peeling

Chemical peeling is applied in two forms: Light peeling and deep peeling.

Light chemical peeling applied by using fruit acids. Deep chemical peeling applied by using phenols and tricholoroacetic acids (TCA).

Light peeling may be applied with glycolic acids derived from sugar beet and lactic acids found in milk. They are more commonly known as alphahydroxy acids (AHAs). Because they are extremely tiny molecules, they easily penetrate through epidermis, the upper layer of the skin. However, they fail to penetrate to the dermis, the layer of the skin just beneath the epidermis. They trigger cell reproduction in epidermis, boosting their tolerance against external factors. In addition to cell rejuvenation, this peeling helps remove superficial blemishes in epidermis.

Another light peeling is accomplished via salicylic acid (BHAs). They rather work on the epidermis on a more superficial basis. They are rather applied for treating acnes, black and white pustules, and preferred as a second tool in treating the blemishes.

We apply light chemical peeling by using both AHA and BHA in our clinic. While removing the upper layer of the skin, we already start up the process for diminishing fine wrinkles (the rejuvenation of the skin).

Nevertheless, we also give our patient similar cosmetic products containing glycolic acid for use at home so that the process becomes more stable and effective. As the peeling time extends, the skin's pH level decreases and peeling concentration is intensified, the process becomes more effective.

It is necessary to avoid sun and solarium during the peeling process and still after a while following the completion of the process.

The peeling applied for removing deeper layers of the skin is applied for treating deep blemishes and blotches as well as wrinkles. Tricholoracetic acid (TCA) and phenol are used for this kind of peeling. The depth of the process is determined by adjusting TCA concentration.

It is better if the skin is analyzed and its needs are found out before the chemical peeling as is the case with all treatments and processes to be applier for skin. A detailed skin analysis is conducted in our clinic and expert doctors map out all treatment methods that can be applied specific to the patient.
